The Wantilan Restaurant
The unique setting of the resort's restaurant, alongside the beach, set high above the sea, provides beautiful views of the ocean. Resting comfortably under a large thatch roof the restaurant has no walls, allowing the wind to wash gently through as diners relax and feast on a wide choice of the freshest and tastiest cuisine. Traditional artwork combines with rattan furniture and teakwood tables created by local craftsmen to provide an airy and comfortable dining environment, where the dress code is casual.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily as an à la carte menu with selections such as Indonesian fusion and light western cuisine. Seafood is drawn daily from the local ocean, fruit is purchased from local farmers, and only the freshest of ingredients are used in every dish. The restaurant's special menu changes daily and is a highpoint of the dining experience.

With captivating views of the Bali Sea, set just above the slate-hued beach, the open air Wantilan restaurant, offers exciting, flavorful regional and international cuisine.

To ensure absolute freshness, the versatile menu is constantly refined, adapting dishes to each catch of the day and using seasonal ingredients available from local farmers in Bali. Organic products, as available, are the first choice ingredients.

Embracing the philosophy of Spa Village and the warm hospitality of the Balinese people, the food at Wantilan is lovingly prepared. The plethora of indigenous fruits and flavors is the basis for an extensive exotic drinks menu, not to be missed.

Location :

The East Coast
Whilst being the longer route of the two, the east coast journey offers stunning views of both the sea and mountains of Bali. From the airport, you will skirt Sanur, a coastal town that was the landing site for Dutch troops during the 1906 invasion in Bali, and also the landing point for Japanese forces during World War II. Continue towards Candidasa, where you can break to visit the nearby village of Tenganan, the residence of the strong Bali Aga, an original Balinese community that retains ancient Balinese culture, said to be pre-Majapahit or 12th century.

The journey continues through the regency of Karangasem, situated at the base of the majestic Mount Agung -the highest mountain on the island and a great spiritual significance to the Balinese. While here, embark on an off-route visit to the Besakih Temple (Pura Besakih), considered the most important Mother Temple by the Hindu Balinese, consisting of more than 20 separate temples and numerous smaller shrines. Continue your journey through Singaraja, passing Tirtagangga, the water palace built in ancient times by the King of Karangasem.

The drive will next take you past the small fishing village of Tulamben, one of the most popular dive sites in Bali. In the waters here lays the shipwreck of the Liberty, sunk by a Japanese torpedo during World War II. The final leg of your journey will take you through the lush agricultural village of Brina before arriving at the Resort.

Through the mountains
This shorter route takes you through the mountains across the middle of this magical island. From the airport, you will pass Sanur, a popular beachside town, towards Batubulan village. This charming village of artisans is well-known for its sculptures and carvings produced with skills handed down through the generations, and also for the Barong dance, a classic story of good versus evil when the Barong saves the world from the witch Rangda.

The drive continues towards Singapadu, Sayan and Payangan villages, headed to Kintamani. En route you will pass by Ubud, regarded as the cultural centre of Bali. While art galleries and museums abound here, other sites to visit include the Elephant Cave (Goa Gajah), an ornately carved cave nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Poet Mountain (Gunung Kawi), a burial complex located at the bottom of a steep valley with stunning views of paddy fields; and Tirta Empul, a highly revered temple built around hot springs where Balinese go to bathe and purify themselves.

Your north-bound journey provides dramatic views of the active volcano Mount Batur as it passes through Kintamani. This area is made up of four villages, with Kintamani, Batur and Penelokan villages sitting on the rim of Mount Batur caldera and Toyo Bungkah village by the edge of Lake Batur. With the climate here being 15 degrees Celcius cooler than on the coast, Kintamani is a scenic area worth a stop along the route.

Your drive will further take you through the quaint villages of Dause and Bondalem, passing through winding roads towards Karangasem that provides majestic views of Mount Agung, after which you will arrive at the Resort.
